Honey Bee Stamps: Lovely Layers Poinsettia Christmas Card
Hello! Today I’m sharing an easy Christmas card featuring the “Lovely Layers Poinsettia” Die set from Honey Bee Stamps.
I started by die cutting the flower and two sets of leaves from Neenah 80lb. Classic Crest Solar White Cardstock.
I used Distress Oxide Inks to add color to the flower. First, I added Barn Door and Candied Apple ink to the base layer. I used Vintage Photo around the edges and then blended it out with the Candied Apple ink again. This made the base layer darker so the remaining petals would pop when I added the layers.
I continued adding ink to the remaining petals with Barn Door and Vintage Photo, blending from the edges towards the center. I kept the centers of the petals lighter to add some dimension.
To create the flower center, I used Wild Honey Distress Oxide ink on a scrap piece of the Neenah cardstock and die cut it out. To add the shimmer, I spritzed it with Fossilized Amber Distress Spritz and set it aside to the dry. For a little extra sparkle I also added some light splatters on the petals with the Fossilized Distress Spritz.
The leaves are ink blended with Rustic Wilderness and Pine Needles Distress Oxide Inks. I put down a light layer of the Rustic Wilderness ink and added Pine Needles around the edges.
Once I had all of the pieces colored, I followed the layering guide that came with the die set to assemble the flower. When putting the flower together I only used glue in the center of each layer so that the petals wouldn’t lie flat.
For the sentiment I used the Bitty Buzzwords: Holiday Honey Cuts and die cut them from some dark green glossy cardstock I had in my stash.
I used a piece of matte gold cardstock and cut out a frame using the Lovely Layouts: Posted Honey Cuts die set and a rectangle die from the A2 Layers die set by Waffle Flower Crafts.
The background is from the Playful Pastels cardstock pack that I had in my stash. I assembled the card and finished it off with some Holiday Wishes Gem Stickers.
I hope you enjoyed seeing this card. Thanks for stopping by!
